5 Hidden Gem Action Games

There are so many new games coming out now that it is truly impossible to keep up with them all. The action game genre is one of the most saturated genres out there be it fps, 3rd person, the list goes on and one. With all these game releases it is bound that lots of games will slip under player's radars. So this list is going to take a look at 5 action games you may not have heard about or tried, and hopefully, by the end of this list you will do yourself a massive favor and experience these fantastic under-appreciated games.

First up we have Vanquish from Platinum Games. This game is to put it simply insane it is all about speed and shooting robots in fact. You play as Sam Gideon a US special ops that must save the world while having a jetpacked powered mecha suit attached to you. What is there to really say about this game other than that? This game flew under a lot of people's radar when it first came out for console. The console versions had some frame rate issues here and there, but it was recently released on PC and playing at a smooth 60fps gives the real sense of speed they wanted to go for when this game first came out.

Binary Domain is a third person shooter with many unique elements. Your enemies are all robots but there is limb-specific damage, like seeing a robot crawl towards you after you have destroyed its legs to latch on and blow up itself up is just awesome. Throughout the game, your decisions and how you treat your allies in this game will come into play as well through the use of trust and consequences system. The game's story is easily one of its biggest highlights besides the smooth hard-hitting gameplay. This game flew so low under the radar only 20,000 copies were initially sold at launch. Which is to bad because this is easily one of my favorite games of all time, an absolute must play in my book.

Spec Ops: The Line is one of those rare games from a storyline perspective hits you out of nowhere, but the absolute best way possible. This game dives down into the choices and situations that soldiers, regardless of a country, are put into and the only the fly nature in which those choices must be made, then seeing the outcome of those decisions made. This game dives deep, and it hits hard. This game is worth getting just for the first playthrough alone. The multiplayer is very tacked on and basic. However, this is one of those games that will leave an everlasting impression on you.

Timeshift is a first-person shooter that the sum of its parts makes up for any shortcomings in the game. In Timeshift, you take on the role of a nameless doctor pursuing another time-traveling colleague of yours who has changed history to his warped, evil view on how it should be. With this suit, you will have the ability to rewind, stop, or slow down time. Time stop is easily my favorite ability when you can walk up to an enemy and steal his gun from him than as time comes back into sync see his reaction, and the weather effects even now are still quite impressive.

Lastly, we have Remember Me, a game that will make you question just what makes up our memories? Are they really like how we recall them? You take on the role of Nilin in a cyberpunk dystopian neo-noir action game with combat that plays similar to the Batman Arkham games. But this games unique feature is the memory remixing that Nilin does at certain points in the game, and seeing the various outcomes from them are easily the biggest treat of this game. One game that will sadly probably never receive a sequel.

So there you have it 5 action games that are hidden gems. This list could have been much larger but these are the ones that I felt never truly got their chance to really shine. So do yourself a favor and pick them up and experience them for yourself. Who know you may even like them!
