5 PC Games You May Have Missed

So on this blog, I like to highlight the lesser known things in Linux, technology, and gaming. Well, this post is going to be covering 5 PC games you may have missed out on. Because let us be honest, there are so many games released nowadays that there is no way for us to keep up. So many games, unfortunately, tend to fly under the radar far too frequently, and it really is quite a shame. Now, do note that some of these games are available across Windows, MacOS, and Linux, while others will be Windows specific. Hey, I don't discriminate based on platform, why limit my gaming options? So onto the list!

The first game we have upon list is Hunted: The Demon's Forge. The quickest way to explain this game is it is Gears of War in a fantasy setting. But the twist on that formula is that it is couch co-op which nowadays are games that are becoming much harder to find. The game aesthetic is very much based in browns, grays, and blacks as this game originally came out in 2011 so it is quite understandable. There is a fairly interesting narrative to follow along with how you play the game does indeed affect the ending of the game. Definitely a hidden gem in my view.

Up next, we have Satellite Reign now this is the game we can call a true successor to old school Syndicate, not the EA inspired why did we turn a tactics game into an FPS one. This game is a squad-based tactics game set in a neon-drenched cyberpunk future setting. If there is one thing anyone knows about me is that I am a total sucker for Cyberpunk. So if you were a fan of old Syndicate you should do yourself a favor and grab this game. It was made by the game director of Syndicate Wars, so that spiritual successor tag holds much more weight to it and all the more reason to go get it.

Now, this game will be a matter of taste. Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs is a visual novel with some light RPG and Adventure game elements. It uses an icon-based gesture system when interacting with other characters. It will very much be an either love it or hate it affair with this game. But the stand out feature for me is the localization of the game while the spoken language is still Japanese the English translation is fantastic, as is the artwork and the character animation. If you have even a passing interest in story focused games or visual novels. Definitely give this game a try.

Hive: Altenium Wars just what can I say about this game as it is just so damn unique. Hive is a 2.5d arena gravity based arena shooter with hexagon shaped arenas. Now if that sounds like an odd combination of things that because it quite frankly is. This supports up to 10 players and each of the hexagon arenas are divided up into 6 different areas, and each area has a totally different direction for how gravity works in it. If there is one game on this list that is the most unique it is easily this one. Get a group of friends together and give this a try. Yes Linux Steam users, this does work through Proton.

Last, but certainly not least we have Kholat which is a survival horror game that takes a look at the real-life incident of 9 Russian hikers who lost their lives in what became known as the Dyatlov Pass Incident. Also, I would be remiss to mention that this game is narrated by the one and only Sean Bean! This, however, does beg the question does that mean the narrator will be dying? Because I mean that is what happens to him in every movie right? So why should a game be any different?

Now, with that ladies and gentlemen, we shall conclude the 5 PC games that you may have missed! Do yourself a favor and go explore beyond the games that you would normally play. Only by exploring different genres will you really be able to find those different types of gaming experience that gamers always claim that they want, that requires you, the gamer to step outside your comfort zone!
