Top 3 Hidden Gems on Steam
There are thousands upon thousands of games available on Steam, with more being added every single day. So to wade through all those choices in games gets harder and harder to find the gems among the trash that is released as well. This list focuses on 3 games that I have found some great enjoyment out of and are very rarely talked about when discussed hidden gems on Steam.
1. Section 8: Prejudice is a sequel to the game Section 8, The biggest difference between the two is that Prejudice has a fairly lengthy single player game, which is well worth the price for the game. Unfortunately, do not expect to be able to play this game online due to its reliance on Games for Windows so the game servers are offline. This game reminds me of a single player version of Planetside where you drop in from an orbit of about 15,000 feet and get a great overview of the map. This game was doing drop in well before Fortnite was but a glimmer in Epic Games eye. The price is 9.99 on Steam with system requirements that can be met by any machine that has been produced in the last 10 years.
2. Project Snowblind have you ever wondered why there was never a release of a Deus Ex game between Invisible War and the 2011 release of Human Revolution? Well, actually there had been it just was not called Deus Ex. The next Deus Ex game ended up being called Project Snowblind. Which is an FPS with many of the cyberpunk powers and aesthetics put into a war-torn future setting. As you play you see and feel where the game feels very much like it was intended as a Deus Ex game. This spiritual successor is easily one of the most underrated and under-appreciated gems on any systems it is available for. You can grab this game on Steam for $5.99 though it is usually on deep sale and can be picked up for less than $1.00.
3. Deadcore is a cyberpunk FPS puzzle game much in the vein of Portal but has very different mechanics. In which you deal with magnets and inverting them to bounce around the map to advance them through the game. This game is essentially a speedrunner's dream. If you get really good at this game you can fly through it. It is just one of those games that are really hard to describe until you actually play it. You can usually pick this game up fairly cheap it normally runs for 9.99 on Steam, though it can usually be picked up for under 5 dollars when it is on sale. The best perk of this game is the fact that is its available for Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation, and Xbox.
